Companions in Mercy are men and women who seek to walk a path marked out by Jesus and by Catherine McAuley.

Responding to the call of the Gospel, they choose to make a commitment to God:

  • inspired by the charism of Mercy
  • manifested by a life of service and prayer
  • supported by community relationships
  • sealed with a vow of mercy

Companions in Mercy embrace a life shaped by prayer, ministry, and community. In ways that are compatible with their personal and professional obligations, they commit themselves to:

  • prayer: seeking deeper life in God and the union of contemplation and action
  • ministry: serving persons in need through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy
  • community: celebrating life with each other and with those embracing other forms of Mercy life.

Companions in Mercy express by vow the orientation of their lives toward the mercy of God. They are women and men who vow "to serve the poor, the sick, and the uneducated." This private vow of the Companions is:

  • professed to God
  • received by the other Companions
  • pronounced in the presence of those who share the Mercy charism

Companions in Mercy strive to:

  • live simply
  • love faithfully
  • listen attentively to the Spirit.
They are walking a new path--toward being a distinct, non-canonical form of Mercy life.
